Mud phobia pig gets its own boots
Wednesday, 11th June 2008
A piglet scared of going near mud has been helped to overcome its fear courtesy of a pair of Wellington boots.
The six-week-old piglet, named Cinders, is a likely sufferer from mysophobia, which means she has a fear of dirt. It was first noticed after she refused to join her fellow piglets for a dip in the mud.
Her owner’s daughter Ellie, 12, decided to kit her out in undoubtedly the smallest pair of Wellington boots ever worn – straight from key ring!
"We've never come across this before. They are born ready to go and explore, but she never really liked going in the mud”, said Mr Keeble.
The family run a sausage company that keeps around 200 pigs but it seems that Cinders is safe from slaughter. The young will now be a mascot for the farm’s efforts to raise money for Farm Crisis Network to help farmers that are struggling financially.
