Mobile music and movie downloads from Orange
Friday March 20, 2008
Orange mobile’s new Orange World platform will see 800,000 of Orange’s 15.6 million mobile customers given the option to download discounted music content to their mobile handsets.
The three month trial starting this week allows brands (Paramount and Ford have already signed up) to have their advertising banners displayed as customers download some of the 500 available tracks on their mobiles.
This Ad-funded content model is hoped will benefit all parties – but there is still an amount of anti-corporate cynicism when any venture is Ad-funded.
To compliment the music offer Orange has teamed up with film website Icewhole.com to allow customers to download short films. Every month, a selection of short films will be available for download via Orange. The data charge for the mobile download will cost up to £1.
