Skype’s landline charges change
Tuesday April 22 2008
Skype has always enabled free calls over the web between two people who are both using the Skype service, but it still costs to make a call off-net to a landline or mobile. Seeing this as a barrier to use especially with the booming global mobile market Skype has introduced new off-net call packages.
For a monthly flat rate of £2.95 customers can make calls to landline numbers in 20 European countries. And for a monthly flat rate of £1.95 per month customers can make calls to UK landlines.
Amid rumours that EBay may be looking to off-load the VoIP provider, Skype are very positive about the consumer benefits and potential to appeal to a wider audience as a viable, flexible alternative to conventional calling methods.
