Future broadband 'could be 100 times faster'

Future broadband users may enjoy a service which is 100 times faster and 75 per cent cheaper, thanks to developments by scientists at Bangor University in Wales.
A group working on the development of broadband technology has found a way to download 15 full-length movies in one minute, massively out-stripping any currently available ADSL.
Speaking on behalf of Bangor University's School of Electronic Engineering, Dr Jianming Tang commented on the potential of the device to help ADSL users.
"This will make remote working far easier and could have many other applications such as supporting older people in their homes, enabling applications such as tele-medicine to flourish," said Dr Tang.
One ISP announced this year that they would offer faster broadband speeds, with a free upgrade to 10Mb for customers on the 4Mb service.
With these kinds of speeds available to customers obvious questions about PC security, anti virus, and firewalls will be raised, but these are early days, watch this space…
